When a new Disney store opens, it will be worth more than $100 million
Disney is getting ready to open its first “DisneyCommerce” retail store in Chicago’s Merchandise Mart.
The company says it’s hoping to sell goods from the popular “Star Wars” franchise, such as merchandise from Disney Infinity, to retailers who can’t find them elsewhere.
The store is slated to open at the Merchandise Center in the Chicago area in September.
DisneyCommerce will offer a variety of products from the franchise, including toys and games.
Its first product, the “Aladdin” figures, are expected to sell for as much as $10 each.
The toy company’s “Aliens” line of figurines is expected to be a big hit, as well.
DisneyCommerce says it expects to sell about 3,000 merchandise items from the line.
The stores are being built by Disney Chicago and a group of companies including New York City-based retailer Conexus.
Disney has been working on the project for a year, and the company is also planning to open a Disney retail store next year in Florida.
